The Journey Begins

From The Root launched with a clear mission: to empower communities by inspiring young girls and restoring dignity through education and compassionate outreach. Our first cohort was a pilot program that would set the foundation for everything we do.

What We Accomplished

Over six transformative months, Cohort 1 achieved remarkable results:

• 50 girls completed vocational training in tailoring, catering, and digital skills
• 35 girls started their own small businesses with seed funding
• 20 young girls received scholarships for secondary education
• 100% of participants reported increased confidence and hope for the future
• 15 girls became mentors for upcoming cohorts

Stories of Transformation

Meet Blessing, a single mother of three who joined our tailoring program with nothing but determination. "I had no money, no skills, and no hope," she recalls. "From The Root gave me more than sewing training—they gave me back my dignity." Today, Blessing runs a successful tailoring business, employs two assistants, and has sent all her children back to school.

Then there's Grace, a young woman who had dropped out of university due to financial constraints. Through our digital skills training, she learned web design and now works as a freelance developer. "Education was my dream, but poverty tried to steal it," Grace shares. "This program didn't just teach me skills—it restored my belief in myself."
